The Amalfi Coast has long been a top summer destination for Italians, with its crystal blue waters and jagged cliff faces. Once a fearsome maritime republic that, it could be said, punched somewhat above its weight given its modest size. Indeed, thanks to Amalfi’s once strong influence, the remains of St Andrew were brought here after the crusades and are said to have protected the town ever since.
