The Amalfi Coast has long been a top summer destination for Italians, with its crystal blue waters and jagged cliff faces. Once a fearsome maritime republic that, it could be said, punched somewhat above its weight given its modest size. Indeed, thanks to Amalfi’s once strong influence, the remains of St Andrew were brought here after the crusades and are said to have protected the town ever since.
The towns of Positano and Amalfi as arguably the most well known, but those who wish to avoid the rush there are lesser-known yet equally beautiful towns such as Praiano, Atrani and Pogerola.
